The Family

THE ART OF ITALIAN FINE WINE

Welcome

The MONTEOTTI family wine story began in Venice in the early 19th century when Bartolomeo Monteotti, a former member of the prestigious and world’s oldest bank - Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena - decided to create a philanthropic institution to promote the Italian arts.

Various recipients were selected for donations down the years, such as innovative glassmaking and artistic achievements among Venice’s celebrated Murano glass producers, as well as in architecture, painting, sculpture and fine wine.

For the Italian people, wine is culture and making wine is an Art.

The present-day MONTEOTTI range covers the spectrum of 'Grandi Vini Italiani' including wines from Veneto, Tuscany, Puglia and Sicily.

It also has the ability to provide private label wines.

Our legacy

The Veneto area was the perfect place to develop a wine venture. Bartolomeo’s sons, Luca and Matteo, were very enthusiastic about the achievements by winegrowers supported by the family, and decided to turn the family’s passion into a business. The MONTEOTTI wine company was established in 1862.

Soave was probably the most iconic wine produced by MONTEOTTI at that time. This dry white made from the local grape variety, Garganega, is grown around the city of Verona and since 2001 has been recognised as a Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC).

The following generation, led by Massimo Monteotti, decided to extend the range by adding internationaly acclaimed Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay, along with reds, including Bardolino and Valpolicella, and the now famous sparkling wine, Prosecco.
